"Inside" is a psychological thriller directed by Vasilis Katsoupis, making his directorial debut. The film follows art thief Nemo, who is trapped in a luxury penthouse apartment in New York City after a heist.
The film begins with Nemo narrating a story from his childhood, where he is asked to choose three things to survive a house fire. Over his family, Nemo chose his cat, an AC/DC record, and his sketchbook, "to keep art."
In the present, Nemo, disguised as a handyman, breaks into the penthouse of a wealthy art collector and steals three Egon Schiele paintings. However, his attempt to leave tripped the security system, sealing him inside the apartment. Nemo's connections abandon him, trapping him with no way out.
As time passes, Nemo struggles to survive in the increasingly inhospitable penthouse. A broken thermostat causes extreme temperature fluctuations, and he faces a shortage of food and water, leaving sprinklers in the indoor garden and fish in the collector's aquarium. Nemo becomes obsessed with a young housekeeper, "Jasmine", whom he watches on security cameras but cannot reach.
